it’s yogurt o’clock ⏰ and it’s a big bowl of homemade goodness 🥣 homemade yogurt is loadedddd with probiotics and beneficial bacteria, literal millionssss more than storebought. and homemade granola is sooo easy and so much better than store bought! no additives and preservatives and you can make it as sweet as you like, i put only a 1/4 cup of honey in this batch. if you want the recipe for the granola or the yogurt just holla at me in the comments and i’ll send it your way!! or click the reel linked above 👆

i know the secret to getting the most clustery of the granola clusters and its adding an egg white 🤫i use this trick in most of my homemade granola recipes and it never fails.

i made a batch of my og grain free granola recipe the other day to enjoy w my homemade yogurt becuz granola 🤝 yogurt 

i didn’t have pumpkin seeds which is what i usually add to the mix so instead i just adding more almonds and that’s what i love about this recipe, it’s so versatile, you can really make it work with whatever nuts or seeds you already have in your cupboard. you can also sub honey for maple syrup if you prefer.

SOOO did you guys know halloumi can melt into a giant puddle if it’s made primarily or wholly with cows milk???? cuz i didn’t 😌🥲 and that’s what happened to my fried halloumi that i was  going to use in the salad originally and tbh it was disgusting lol. i added some extra old cheddar that i shaved into thin slices instead, and honestly, it was really good. i don’t know why we don’t put old cheddar on salad more often, but here’s your reminder that you’re allowed to do that. as well as your reminder that you should probably buy the expensive halloumi and not the cheap halloumi cuz apparently there is a big difference🙃🥗

keep in mind, this is how i make MY 24 hour fermented yogurt in my instant pot. there are other ways to do it, including using a packaged yogurt starter and a designated yogurt maker, but this is what works best for me!

ingredients:
- 2 litres of 3% organic milk 
- 1/2 cup of Astro Original, plain yogurt

how to:
1) Using your instant pot, choose the ‘Yogurt’ setting. Under the Yogurt’ set your temperature to ‘High’ (181 degrees). Pour in the 2 litres of milk.
setting,
2 ) Place the lid on the instant pot and seal the varle. Press start t o begin boiling
the milk. 
3) Once it’s done boiling, it will beep. Right away, press start to boil again. Repeat a third time after this as well. (You’re boiling for a total of three times, at least).
4) You want the milk to reach a temperature of 180 degrees F- once you’ve boiled
it three times, it should be at this temperature. Carefully remove the instant pot
lid to avoid getting any water droplets inside the milk. Check the temparture to ensure the milk reached 180 degrees Farenheit.
5) Now, you want the milk to cool to 80 degrees Farenheit. Take out the instant
pot inner pot, and place it in a large bowl filled with ice to allow the milk to cool. (CONTD in comments)

if you want to make a valentine’s day treat for you and/or your kids that is refined sugar free, may i suggest making my shortbread cookie recipe (which is also grain free!) in a heart shape and then topping them w homemade jam?? that’s what i did w my toddler (also a fun lil v day activity !) 💕

🍓for the jam, use whichever frozen berries you prefer, add a splash of lemon juice, a couple of tbsp of honey if you want, and let it come to a boil on the stovetop before simmering on low for 20-30 mins. you can spread it on the cookies before baking!

since i make the dinner i also get decide when the whole family is eating salad 🥲🥗surprisingly enough my toddler loves salad and i think that’s just cuz i actually know how to make it so it tastes delicious 💃 adding some sort of cheese is a must as well as a homemade salad dressing, this one was filled with dried basil and dried oregano for a bit of a herby lemon flavour. i’ve included the recipe in the caption below so you can save it next time you want to try to force your children to eat salad 😜jk they might actually enjoy it you never know!! 

salad 
1 head of romaine lettuce, shredded or finely chopped
1 mini cucumber, finely chopped
1 mini sweet pepper, finely chopped 
handful cherry tomatoes, halved 
2-3 pieces of bacon, chopped into small pieces 
1/2 - 1 cup grated parmesan 
small bunch of fresh parsley, finely chopped (approx 1-2 tbsp chopped)
half an avocado 

simple herby lemon salad dressing 
1/4 cup evoo
1 + 1/2 lemons, juiced 
1 tbsp honey
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp dried oregano
1/2 tsp dried basil
pinch of black pepper
